Strength and Balance
THE PILATES WAY
Women's Health
Pregnancy
Significant physiological and postural changes occur during this important time of a woman's life. This calls for special expertise on the part of a Physical Therapist or Exercise instructor. Ann has had extensive post-professional training in the specialized treatment of Pregnant and Postpartum patients. Passionate about assisting women during these critical life stages, she’s mentored other Physical Therapists to aid clients during their Perinatal year.
Postpartum period
Whether your child was born 6 weeks, 6 months, or 2 years ago, your body has undergone pregnancy and delivery induced changes. Dealing with these physical changes, in addition to the extra demands of caring for young children, can be challenging. It is recommended that you consult with someone knowledgeable in this area if:
-
You have pain, especially in your low back, upper back, or SI joints
-
Prior to returning to impact exercise such as running
-
Prior to engaging in intense weightlifting or other core intensive activities

Osteoporosis and Osteopenia
Ann has the distinction of creating and teaching curriculum for Physical Therapists in the appropriate evaluation and treatment of patients with Osteoporosis and its variation, Osteopenia. She’s designed and implemented specific education and exercise programs for patients with low bone density, and has lectured throughout the Chicago area on the subject. Her extensive experience in this area, as well as Physical Therapy in general, allows her to tailor exercise programs to each client’s individual needs.
Ann enjoys empowering women to live their lives, as Joseph Pilates once said, with "spontaneous zest and pleasure". Experience the joy of performing your daily activities, without pain or injury, and with improved confidence.
